Our annual Luau is a special day for Angels Above.  We celebrate this each year on or about June 10th, which was Kimberly Horman's birthday.   And as you may know, Angels Above was founded by Sue Horman in memory of her daughter, Kimberly.
 
So on June 10th, we visited the pediatric floors and handed out leis to the children (and their parents too!) and gave them each gift bags stuffed with summer-themed items. 
 
A Luau Luncheon,
with pizza donated by The Upper Crust (see  article in this newsletter), was enjoyed by all.
 
We all had a great time and what a wonderful way to honor Kimberly's memory.

Anne Bouchard, a Child Life Specialist on Ellison 18, tied the knot with James Pizzano on July 25th.  On a beautiful summer day, their ceremony and reception was held at White Cliffs Country Club in Plymouth MA.

With family and friends in attendance, Anne and James celebrated their day taking in breathless views of Cape Cod while dancing the night away to music provided by a
mariachi band.  In keeping
with the Mexican theme, the couple honeymooned in  Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. 
 
We wish them a beautiful life together.

It's hard to believe summer is over and we are getting ready for our yearly fundraiser, the 8th Annual Twilight Affair and Silent Auction.  It is such a wonderful evening and we would love for you to join us.

8th Annual
Twilight Affair and Silent Auction

Our annual fundraiser will be held on Thursday, November 5th at Harris' Pelham Inn, Pelham, NH from 6:00-10:00pm.  Tickets are on sale now for $65.00 each and a table of 10 can be reserved.  To purchase tickets, please call the Angels Above Store or email us.  We accept cash, check or credit card.  To pay by credit card please use PayPal through our website and in the memo section type "Twilight Affair Tickets". 
 
The evening starts off with our very popular silent auction featuring  overnight getaways, autographed sports items, tickets to sporting events, ski passes, jewelry and much more.   We will also have the $10 $25 $50 balloon raffle (where you're guaranteed to win an item of equal or greater value) which was a big crowd pleaser last year.  And of course the beautiful holiday ornaments painted by the children of Mass General will be for sale.  We have sold out of these the past 7 years!
 
The Pelham Inn's famous turkey dinner will be served and music will be provided by Soul Force IV, an amazing 7 piece band.
 
We invite and encourage everyone to come out and join in the fun.  We need your support to continue helping the children and their families.

Red Sox "Team Up" with Angels Above for a Grandslam of a Night!

This summer proved to be especially exciting for some lucky patients at the MassGeneral Hospital for Children!  For the July 7th and July 29th Red Sox games, twenty tickets per night were donated to a group of very special kids and teens.  A total of 13 MGHfC patients and their families were able to enjoy a night at Fenway Park and all got the chance to meet David Ortiz (aka BIG PAPI) get his autograph and picture, and sit in his special seats, "Papi's Corner"! 

Through the additional generosity of Angels Above, each patient and family received money for dinner, snacks, souvenirs, or whatever else they wanted to purchase in the park.  With the help of Angels Above, the Red Sox certainly hit it out of the park for these kiddos!!

It's That Time of Year Again!  With the Twilight Affair upon us, the patients at the MassGeneral Hospital for Children have already started to create their beautifully hand painted holiday ornaments. In the past years these ornaments could only be purchased at the annual Twilight Affair. Seeing that they were of great demand, the ornaments will now be sold at the hospital as well, thus allowing people who are unable to attend the Twilight Affair the option to buy one.

These ornaments can be purchased at the hospital or at the Twilight Affair for $15. As always, all the proceeds will go directly back to the patients and families at the MassGeneral Hospital for Children. If you are interested in purchasing a child's ornament at the hospital, please see  one of the inpatient Child Life Specialists. Don't miss out on this precious item, as they will not last!

Shawn Shenefield, the Area Manager of The Upper Crust, along with Natalie Pfeil from The Upper Crust on 20 Charles Street, delivered 15 pizzas to our Luau Party in June. 
 
Our previous pizza supplier informed us in May that they could no longer give us a discounted price for our parties.  The children have always loved the pizza parties so we had to come up with a new plan.  When Anne Bouchard-Pizzano, Child Life Specialist, informed Shawn of our dilemma, he did not hesitate to DONATE pizza to our parties. 

We are so grateful for the support of people and businesses like Shawn and The Upper Crust who open their hearts to help.  You have made many children (and Angels Above!) happy and we thank you!
