A Special Visit!
We recently had veryspecial visitorsat the Angels Above Store. Danny Dowling and his mom, Amy, came by to drop off items for the children at MGHfC. It was Danny's 5th birthday in March and he asked his friends to bring items to donate to the sickchildren.
Ever since Danny was hospitalized at MGHfC when he was just an infant, the Dowling family has been a hugesupportor of Angels Above. Over the past 5 years they, along with family and friends, have continued to donate to Angels Above.
After many years of corresponding by mail, it was wonderful to finally meet this sweet boy and his lovely mom! We are truly grateful for your support and generosity.
Happy Birthday Danny and wehope you'll visit us again!

Spring is in the air!
Somehow things seem better when Spring arrives. On one of the first warm days we had, I bought many hanging flower pots, which is something I look forward to every year. They make me smile...even on a cold, rainy day. Living in the northeast, spring is a wonderful giftafter so many months of being cold. Suddenly the grass is green and the plants and trees are blooming. You know in your heart that everything will be OK. Seven years agoI lost my mother to multiple myeloma. I was devastated beyond words. We buried Mom on a
beautiful spring day. Maybe that was her final gift...letting us know thateverything will be OK.
A happy and beautiful Spring to all of you.
Warmest Regards,
Mary Beth Brunelle
Rebecca's Wish
In April, we received an email from Martin Tabat. He and his wife, Charlene, were making a donation to Angels Above in memory of their daughter, Rebecca. This is their story.
In July 2009, their 18 year-old daughter, Rebecca, was diagnosed with gastrointestinal adenocarcinoma.
When she first arrived at MGH she spent her time on Ellison 18, one of the pediatric floors. When pathology determined that she had an adult cancer she was transferred to the adult oncology floor.
However, Rebecca was moved by thechildren on Ellison 18 and decided to raise money to purchase items for the children. She designed a logo, "Cure With Hope", and sold t-shirts and bracelets. Rebecca's efforts raised $5,000.00!
On March 29, 2010, Rebecca lost her battle with cancer.
In April, Angels Above was presented with a check for $5,000.00 from Cure With Hope.

Because of a young girl who had a big and caring heart for others, manychildren will benefit from her kindness. Thank you Rebecca.
Our heartfelt sympathies to Martin and Charlene on the loss of their beautiful daughter. It was Rebecca's wish that Cure With Hope continued on after her death. We wish you success and hope it brings you peace.

Welcome Maelyn!!
Ellison 17's Child Life Specialist, Ashley Reardon, and her husband Larry, welcomed a beautiful girl on December 12, 2009. Maelyn weighed 6 lbs 10 oz. and as her mother stated, "Maelyn was certainly welcomed with love and gave us the best early Christmas present we could have ever asked for. Despite the sleepless nights we are enjoying every minute...she is just so precious."
Congratulations Ashley and Larry.

Natalie's Night of Hope
For the past several years, Hope Eacrett has held an annual fundraiser, "Natalie's Night of Hope"in memory of her daughter, Natalie, who was treated at MGHfC for mitochondrial disease. Angels Above has been the recipient of several generous donations.
"We know it was the "little" things we did that often made the "biggest" difference in Natalie's everyday life. As such all the proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward the little things we know will make the biggest difference in the lives of other Mito children & their families" says Hope.
Despite Natalie's daily struggle against this insidious disease, she was courageous and positive. Her love of life and her strong spirit was an inspiration to all. She fought a long, hard battle, yet spent each day with hope & determination!
Natalie passed away on May 6,2006.
Natalie wholeheartedly believed in a cure, but she also knew in her heart that it wouldn't come in time for her. In spite of that, however, she wantedher familyto continue her fight "to help other Mito kids".
In an email Hope sent to Angels Above, she stated "I sincerely think your organization is doing a wonderful thing forsick children & their families & I'm proud to be able to contribute to your wonderful, generous organization!"
Hope and her family have touched our hearts for all theyare doingin memory of Natalie.
Natalie attended Kids on TrackPreschool in Dracutand this past Valentine's Day, the preschoolers held a Hop-A-Thon in memory of Natalie (seepictures below). Angels Above was presented with a check for $600! A bighug and thanks to all the hoppers and to the staff at Kids on Track!!
Until next time....
Be well, enjoy each day, and keep smiling!!
